Filling Santa bags for homeless Tri-City teens and others in need

Volunteers, many from the local sewing quilting community, work their way past tables covered with donated items as they fill handmade Santa bags at the Discount Vac and Sew Embroidery Club in downtown Kennewick.

The gift bags will be delivered to the Tri-Cities Union Gospel Mission, domestic violence shelter and My Friends Place for homeless teens and to others in need.

Event organizer Ginny Hildreth said they filled 140 bags, twice as many as last year. The bags included small games, pens, toiletries, books, clothes, socks, gloves and a scarf.
