Richland pharmacy worker steals 1,000 opioid pills. Her state license is suspended

A pharmacy technician who took about 1,000 hydrocodone and oxycodone pills from the Richland pharmacy where she worked has agreed to have her license suspended for at least three years.

Alexandra Urbina admitted to police on Aug. 17, 2018, that she took the pills for her own use about 10 days earlier, according to the Washington state Department of Health.

The state agency did not release the name of the pharmacy.

Urbine has been a licensed pharmacy technician in Washington state since 2016 and a pharmacy assistant since 2015.

The Department of Health’s Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission issued a statement of charges three months ago, but Urbina and the commission reached an agreement without proceeding to a hearing, the health officials announced Thursday.

Her pharmacy credentials have been suspended and she has agreed not to petition for reinstatement for at least three years.

Within 90 days of petitioning for reinstatement she must have a substance abuse evaluation through the Washington Recovery Assistance Program for Pharmacy and comply with its recommendations.
