All hands on deck building 2,000 bikes in Kennewick

About 900 volunteers, including 600 high school students, fill the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick on Friday for the 10th annual Bike Build for the Bikes for Tikes program.

Organizers planned to assemble 2,000 bicycles in one day.

The bikes will be donated with helmets to children in need throughout the Mid-Columbia during the holidays.

The program’s primary sponsors are the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 598 union and related contractors.
