Colorful remembrance for Veterans Day

A wreath adorned with red poppies and a copy of a wartime poem, In Flanders Fields, written in 1915 by a Canadian officer and surgeon John McCrae, sits at the base of the stone column of the Regional Veterans Memorial in Columbia Park.

Red poppies are a symbol of remembrance to the soldiers lost on the battlefield.
