Fire burns near Richland Wye bike path

A small fire in the Richland Wye was stopped quickly Tuesday before it could damage Benton Franklin Transit’s headquarters.

The blaze started at 3:41 p.m. near a bike path, then jumped the fence into the transit center’s complex.

The smoke could be seen along Columbia Park Trail and Highway 240.

Battalion Chief Mike Wroolie said the fire didn’t reach any buildings before crews put it out.

No one was hurt and no buildings were damaged.
