A family fled a house fire Wednesday afternoon along Fillmore Place in Kennewick.

A Washington state trooper around 4 p.m. spotted smoke coming from all of the eaves and roof of the house on the 1000 block the street.

Kennewick firefighters responded to the blaze, which Battalion Chief Mike Barnett said started with a faulty bathroom fan.

The fire then spread into the attic and damaged an adjoining bathroom.

Barnett said the house isn’t habitable until repairs are done. He added that the family living in the house has a place to stay.
