2 motorcyclists collide, killing 1 in Franklin County

A Basin City concrete worker was killed early Friday when his motorcycle was hit by another motorcyclist.

John C. Orozco Sr., 57, was heading north on Glade North Road in Franklin County when the other motorcyclist came up behind him at a high rate of speed, said Franklin County Undersheriff Dan McCary.

Larry Pence, 40, from the Tri-Cities, hit Orozco from behind at 12:25 a.m., said McCary.

Orozco died at the scene, and Pence was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and no other information was available.

Orozco was born in Fowler, Calif., and lived in the Tri-Cities for 50 years, according to his death notice from Hillcrest Bruce Lee Memorial Center.

He worked for Pavement Surface Control of Kennewick.
