SUV flips and others crash on slick Tri-City highways

A Kennewick man was hurt after he lost control of his SUV on a slippery Interstate 82 this morning.

The crash was one of several Monday morning on icy roads in rural areas of Benton and Franklin counties. Franklin County reported four collisions within an hour.

Roger B. Garcia, 29, of Kennewick, was heading east in a Suzuki SUV when he lost control about five miles south of town while trying to change lanes, the Washington State Patrol said.

Garcia hit the guardrail, overcorrected and crossed the highway before flipping about 4:40 a.m.

He was treated and later released from Trios Southridge Hospital.

The WSP said he was driving too fast for the slick conditions.
