Bird walk planned on closed Bateman Island in Richland
The local Audubon group plans a public bird walk on Richland’s Bateman Island, which has remained closed to the public since a wildfire in July.
The walk on Saturday will be led by Jason Fidorra, a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife biologist.
Birders should meet at 8 a.m. at Wye Park above the causeway to the island on Columbia Park Trail in Richland.
Bring binoculars and dress for cold weather, advises the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society.
