Retired McDonald’s exec joins Lamb Weston board
Peter J. Bensen, a retired McDonald’s Corp. executive, has been appointed to the board of Lamb Weston Holdings Inc.
The Boise-based french fry giant is one of the largest buyers of Washington-grown potatoes.
It employs 4,500 people in the Mid-Columbia, including 2,500 in the Tri-Cities, where it has offices, research facilities and processing lines.
Bensen joined McDonald’s in 1996 and served as chief financial officer, then chief administrative officer, until his retirement in 2016.
He is a trustee of Chicago’s John G. Shedd Aquarium and a local affiliate of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Lamb Weston spun out of ConAgra Foods last year and was listed as a public company on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company’s shares traded at nearly $56 at the end of the day Wednesday, up 67 percent from its debut in November 2016.
