Richland driver slowed for a red light; the car behind him didn’t
A 73-year-old Richland man was hospitalized Saturday after his car was hit from behind while slowing for a red light on Highway 240.
Frank M. Gray was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center after the 4:33 p.m. crash, according to a Washington State Patrol report.
Gray was traveling east on the highway when he began to stop for the new light at Hagen Road and Robertson Drive.
Troopers said the driver behind him, Jovany Ledesma, was following too close and was not paying attention because he was using an “electronic device.”
Gray’s Toyota Camry was rear-ended by Ledesma’s Chevrolet Cobalt.
Ledesma, 23, of Desert Aire was not injured.
