Sea of cycles

Pasco High student Braxton Harris is one of about 600 volunteers Friday to help assemble 1,654 bicycles for the annual Bikes for Tikes program at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Kennewick.

The volunteers from about 30 community groups, schools and businesses reached the milestone of assembling the 10,000th bicycle since the program’s inception eight years ago.

About 1,100 bikes are scheduled to be distributed next weekend to pre-qualified recipients in the Tri-Cities, according to organizers.
