Grief care to host support groups and classes

Chaplaincy Grief Care is offering several support groups and classes.

Understanding Grief: An Introduction will be held from noon to 2 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14. The class will cover common grief reactions, the uniqueness of grief, and healthy coping strategies. To register, call Wanda at 509-783-6243.

Coming to Terms with Loss is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Jan. 9 to March 13. The group is open to adults experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Books are available to borrow and can be purchased for $27. To register, call Cheryl at 509-572-0593 or Wanda at 509-783-6243.

Widowed Support Group is offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Jan. 9 to March 13, and from noon to 1:30 p.m. or 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 10 to March 14. The group welcomes widow, widowers and partners experiencing grief. Books are available to borrow and can be purchased for $27. To register, call Cheryl at 509-572-0593 or Wanda at 509-783-6243.

Cork’s Place Support Groups will be held for children and teens ages 3 to 17. Ongoing groups meet regularly following the school year calendar. A separate support group for parents and guardians meets at the same time the children and teens meet. Grieving Parent’s Support Group is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Spaulding Facility, 1480 Fowler St., Richland. The group is available to adults experiencing grief due to the death of a child. For more information or to register, call Craig at 509-572-8349.

First Year and Beyond: Drop-In Support Group is offered from noon to 1:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. the third Monday of the month. For more information, call Cheryl at 509-572-0593 or Wanda at 509-783-6243.

The Chaplaincy Survivors of Suicide Support Group will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every first and third Wednesday of the month at the Entiat Facility, 2108 W. Entiat Ave., Kennewick. The Hope for the Holidays Class is offered from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 2. The class will provide information to better navigate the holiday season following a loss, and offers suggestions in managing the stress, loneliness, and confusion that holidays can bring.
