A family of five escaped an early Monday blaze that damaged their Richland home.

The fire apparently started in a landscaping business in the basement of the building on the 1600 block of Terminal Drive and spread to the home upstairs, said Richland fire Battalion Chief Michael Wroolie.

No one was hurt.

Firefighters from Richland, Hanford and Benton County Fire District 4 responded at 2 a.m. It took about two hours to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
