The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a 60-year-old Richland man became lost while hunting overnight in the White Bluffs area.

A Richland man is safe after being lost overnight while hunting in the White Bluffs area.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies found the man Saturday morning after responding to a report of someone in the area yelling for help and shooting.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, had been hunting since 10 a.m. Friday, the sheriff’s department said. He became lost and spent the night without food, water or shelter, the department said.

The man was treated for hypothermia and dehydration at an area hospital, the department said.

Deputies urged people to be cautious when spending time outdoors. “If possible, don’t hunt or hike alone. Let someone know where you are going to be and an expected return time,” the department said.
