Cleary, Jansons returning to Richland School Board
Two longtime Richland School Board members were handily beating out challengers in Tuesday’s election.
In the race for Pos. 1, board member Heather Cleary had 6,246 votes, or 66 percent, and challenger Matthew Bishop trailed with 3,172 votes, or 34 percent.
In the race for Pos. 2, board President Rick Jansons had 5,706 votes, or 59 percent, to challenger Ron Higgins’ 3,918 votes, or 41 percent.
Cleary and Jansons have been on the board more than a decade — Cleary joined in 2005 and Jansons was elected in 2001.
The election results aren’t yet final. About 10,000 ballots still are left to be tabulated countywide.
The election will be certified on Nov. 28.
