Incumbent Gary Long edging out challenger in Trios race
A Kennewick Public Hospital District board incumbent looks to be keeping his seat against a challenger in Tuesday’s election.
Gary G. Long, who joined the board last year, has a commanding lead with 7,284 votes, or 58.7 percent, on Tuesday night.
Challenger Raymond H. Sjerven, a local doctor, 5,128 votes, or 41.3 percent.
The results aren’t yet official. About 10,000 more ballots are left to be tallied countywide. The election will be certified on Nov. 28.
Two other hospital board members — Marv Kinney and Leonard Dreisbach — also were on the ballot, but both were unchallenged and will keep their seats.
The Kennewick Public Hospital District does business as Trios Health. The health system has two hospitals and a network of care centers and services.
