Kennewick fire officials say a mother and her baby son were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after fire engulfed their manufactured home Tuesday.

Firefighters rescued the baby from the home near the Benton County Fairgrounds and recuscitated him, Battalion Chief Kevin Crowley said.

Fire Chief Vince Beasley said the boy then began breathing on his own and was transported to Trios Southridge Hospital.

The mother had already rescued two older children before firefighters arrived, but she couldn’t find the baby.

Crowley said the blaze appeared to start in the home’s living room while the family was at home. The fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the cause is under investigation.

The fire at Garden Vista Park off 10th Avenue was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m.
