Painted with memories of the dead at WSU Tri-Cities

Washington State University student Cristina Villanueva paints Fatima Duran’s face Wednesday during the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event held at WSU Tri-Cities in Richland.

The event had decorated altars, food, and mariachi music performed by Chiawana High School’s Mariachi Halcón del Río.

Day of the Dead is a day of remembrance of deceased loved ones held on Nov. 2 throughout Mexico and parts of the United States.
