Program takes stress out of dressing up for homecoming
With homecoming just around the corner, Tri-Cities Prep senior Kenzie Mills is hoping to help girls find that perfect dress and accessories without the stress of shopping for hours, or spending a dime.
Mills’ endeavor, Dresses for Hope, is her senior project, and it will help girls from around the Mid-Columbia find a dress who might otherwise not be able to afford one.
The exchange is 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 22, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Cynergy Center at 4309 West 27th Ave. in Kennewick.
“There is a lady (Maureen McGrath) who founded the Faith, Hope & Love Foundation,” Mills said of her inspiration. “Her niece Corrine (Barnett) did it two years ago, two others continued it last year and I wanted to keep it going.”
Mills has a treasure trove of 175 dresses left over from last year, and already has 10 more that people want to donate. She also will revisit the project in the spring, just in time for prom.
If you would like more information, or to donate a dress and accessories, contact Mills at 509-591-1640.
Mills is getting help with her project from schoolmates Ally Moore, Grace Porch, Yelsy Coffey.
