Umatilla deputies investigate drowning near Hermiston
Umatilla County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a swimmer in the Columbia River.
Deputies said the man was seen at 6 p.m. Saturday swimming close to Warehouse Beach near Hermiston. He appeared to struggle as he swam farther out, went under and didn’t resurface.
Columbia Basin Dive Rescue were called out and helped deputies find the man’s body two hours later.
Deputies have yet to release his name.
