The city of Richland said it has painted over hateful graffiti on walls along the Highway 240 bypass over the weekend.

A Richland resident spotted the collection of symbols Sunday near Jadwin Avenue. City crews responded Monday.

The Tri-City Herald is not publishing or describing the images to avoid amplifying the collection of misogynistic and anti-semitic symbols.

The messages were painted in black on the concrete sound barrier and could only be seen from the shelter belt bike path, not the roadway, said officials.
