2 stolen vehicles, 5 arrests after Kennewick police follow oil trail
Five people were arrested this week after Kennewick police were tipped to a suspicious car, stripped of most of its usable parts.
The white Mitsubishi Eclipse was on the 4400 block of West Seventh Street, Kennewick police said in a news release. Officers determined it was reported stolen earlier this month.
The car was leaking oil, and police followed an oily trail to a home on the 700 block of South Volland Street, where they found a second stolen vehicle — a 1987 Toyota pickup.
They got a search warrant for the mobile home, where they found parts from the stolen Eclipse.
They arrested five people at the home.
James R. Whitney, 27, was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of auto theft and trafficking stolen property.
Enrique Murillo Jr., 36, and Jenna M. Ross, 32, were booked on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. And Jessica L. Miller, 28, and Katherine A. York, 26, were booked on outstanding warrants.
The county prosecutor’s office will review the case for possible additional charges related to the stolen vehicles, police said.
