The “best week of summer” is in full swing.

The Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo kicked off Tuesday and continues through Saturday at the Benton County fairgrounds in Kennewick.

From concerts to corn on the cob, here are a few things you need to know:

Kids Day is Wednesday

Kids Day means a special deal for little ones. Admission for children ages 6 to 12 is $2.

The rest of the week, kids get in for $5. It’s the same for seniors. Adult admission is $14, and children 5 and younger get in for free.

Parking at the fairgrounds is $10 each day or $40 for a season pass.

Want to avoid parking and ride the bus? Special fair/bus combo tickets are $14 for adults and $7 for kids and seniors.

Fair tickets are available at bentonfranklinfair.com, the fair office, Kennewick Ranch & Home and at the gate. Albertsons, Safeway and Yoke’s stores also have just the fair/bus combo tickets.

Your Uber is here!

The ride service Uber is at the fair this year.

An Uber Lounge is set up by the fair exit. Fairgoers can wait there for their ride or get help from a representative if they’re unfamiliar with the app.

A special offer for first-time riders — a free ride up to $15 — is available using the code BFFAIR17.

Boys II Men rocked it, and more acts are left

Boyz II Men kicked off the popular evening concert series with a passionate performance Tuesday night.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts were up Wednesday, followed by Trace Adkins on Thursday, Eli Young Band on Friday and War on Saturday. All shows start at 7:30 p.m.

General seating is free with fair admission. Reserved seating is $15.

A Taste of the Fair is Aug. 24

The fair is known for mouth-watering food, and this year is no exception — from gyros to mounds of curly fries, buttered corn on the cob, elephant ears and funnel cake.

If you have trouble deciding what to get, consider checking out A Taste of the Fair on Thursday. From 2 to 6 p.m. that day, food vendors will offer smaller portions of their signature items for $2.

Put on your dancing shoes

The Horse Heaven Round Up starts at 7 p.m. each night. With a purse of $20,000 per event, it’s one of the biggest rodeos in the country.

This year, you can mark the end of the rodeo and fair at an all-ages dance. It’s Saturday night in the rodeo arena, following the end of the Round Up.
