Dream of being a movie star? Extras needed Aug. 20 in Richland

Do you dream of being a movie star … extra?

Then dig out some jelly shoes, stonewashed jean jackets and fanny packs, tease your hair and slip on some Ray-Ban Wayfarers for the final touch.

A movie trailer being shot Sunday in Richland is in need of extras.

The catch is you must be between the ages of 18 and 27 — or at least look it — and you need to dress ’80’s style.

Mike Charboneau, the cable communication coordinator for the City of Richland, has written a screenplay in his free time, and the trailer is part of a crowdfunding campaign to support the film.

The movie, Turn It Up, is a 1980’s-based coming-of-age comedy “about six friends from small-town anywhere living life and chasing the dream of becoming Rock Gods!” according to its Facebook page.

Charboneau’s project is being endorsed and promoted by Steve Lynch, the lead singer for the rock band Autograph. Lynch is in the Tri-Cities to film the trailer.

Charboneau got permission to close Stevens Drive for a few hours Saturday and Sunday near Tumbleweeds restaurant and Bombers Drive-Thru on Stevens Drive.

Extras are needed Sunday to dress in rock, pop or prep ’80’s style and be part of a “street concert.”

People need to show up by 1 p.m., park in the old Albertsons lot on Lee Boulevard, and check in and sign a release prior to film placement, according to the site.
