West Richland man hurt in I-90 wreck

A 59-year-old West Richland man was hurt early Friday in a four-vehicle wreck outside Cle Elum.

Thomas P. Hume was taken to Kittitas Valley Healthcare, where he was in satisfactory condition later in the morning.

The wreck happened at 3:25 a.m. on Interstate 90 about 15 miles west of Cle Elum.

Hume was in a semi truck headed west on the interstate, when another semi, driven by Michael S. Casey, 35, of Ashford, changed lanes to avoid the fog, lost control and rolled, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Hume saw the wreck, over-corrected and also lost control and rolled, troopers said.

A 2007 Toyota Camry then struck another semi trying to avoid the wreck.

No other injuries were reported. Alcohol and drugs weren’t involved.

Troopers said Casey was driving too fast for conditions.
