A house on North 22nd Avenue in Pasco was heavily damaged by a fire that broke out shortly after noon Thursday, officials said.

No one was home when the blaze started on the back side and spread into the attic.

Fire units from Pasco, Walla Walla District 5, Kennewick Fire Department and Franklin County Fire District 3 responded.

The cause is under investigation.
