Swimmer drowns in Columbia River north of Pasco
A 25-year-old Kennewick man drowned in the Columbia River north of Pasco.
Nathaniel J. Hanrahan was swimming with a group of friends near Sagemoor Road on Friday when he went under water and didn’t resurface, said Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel.
His friends found him and pulled him to shore after searching for about half an hour. They were performing CPR when Franklin County Fire District 3 crews arrived to help.
He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he died.
Hanrahan was a heavy equipment operator at American Rock Products in Richland and had lived in the Tri-City area for 17 years, according to a death notice.
