Combine sparks fire, scorching 50 acres south of Kennewick
A combine started a fire that that blackened 50 acres of wheat stubble Tuesday afternoon south of Kennewick.
Debris got caught in a combine working in a field along Nine Canyon Road, sparking the blaze at 1:40 p.m., said Tracy Baker, public information officer for Benton County Fire District 1.
Firefighters from the city of Pasco and Benton Fire District 4 helped get the blaze under control by 3 p.m.
No one was hurt and no structures were threatened, Baker said.
