The Kennewick Fire Department responded early Tuesday morning to a fire at Billy’s Bull Pen Tavern at 4128 W. Clearwater Ave.

A passerby reported seeing smoke coming from the building at about 4 a.m. and called 911.

Kennewick firefighters extinguished the beginnings of a fire in the building’s crawl space, according to a Kennewick Police Department Facebook post.

It appears someone tried to start a fire in the crawl space, acting Battalion Chief Troy Stratford said. The flames did not damage the building.

The doors of the building were damaged when firefighters forced their way inside.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
