Here’s why Frontier internet, phone service is down in Tri-City area

Frontier internet and phone service customers in the Tri-City area lost service this weekend because of a Kennewick city road work project.

Frontier said Monday morning that it continued to work to restore service.

Service was interrupted about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when a cable was cut on West Clearwater Ave.

The contractor doing the work had contacted Frontier, but Frontier did not correctly identify the location of the cable, according to the city of Kennewick. Frontier has assumed responsibility for the repair.

Due to the type of cable and the location of the cut, restoring service is expected to take several days, according to Frontier.
