Kennewick police’s Citizen Academy begins Wednesday

Thirty-one people start the Kennewick Police Department’s Citizen Academy on Wednesday.

The academy is designed to give people a behind-the-scenes look at the criminal justice system. The five-week program educates enrolled citizens about how the police, courts, prosecuting attorney, coroner and jail services function.

Classes meet at the police department, 211 W. Sixth Ave. Pre-enrollment was required to attend.
