High winds, blowing snow cause closure of Highway 221 in Benton County
High winds and blowing snow have led to the closure of a 12-mile section of Highway 221, southeast of Prosser.
The Washington state Department of transportation announced the road closure at 12:45 p.m.
It involves 221 from milepost 14, near Sellards Road, to milepost 26, near the intersection with Highway 22.
It is not known when the highway will reopen because of “the weather-related nature of this closure,” the department said.
