State, AgriNorthwest plan 5,000-acre swap in Benton County

The state Department of Natural Resources is holding a public hearing on a proposed land swap with AgriNorthwest.

The hearing begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the cafeteria of Southridge High School, 3520 Southridge Blvd., Kennewick.

The swap involves about 5,000 acres of equal value. The switch would expand agriculture opportunities and allow the state agency to consolidate land it holds in the area so it can provide more efficient management.

DNR manages more than 5 million acres statewide to produce income for schools, universities, prisons, the state mental hospitals and other endeavors.
