Handsomely Hairy for Health campaign beginning in November

KRT

Mid-Columbia Libraries has partnered with the Tri-Cities Cancer Center to raise the level of men’s health awareness in the region throughout the month of November.

The campaign is called Handsomely Hairy for Health, which focuses on two cancers exclusive to men: prostate and testicular cancer.

Individuals are encouraged to grow their beard or mustache as a conversation starter about the need for men to be more proactive about their health.

Activities include Li-BREWERY Trivia at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and 22 at Barley’s BrewHub, Kennewick; BARchitects, an Adult LEGO League, at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Brews Taphouse, Pasco; and Reading Under the Influence: Karaoke Style Book Readings at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Paper Street Brewing Company, Richland.

Other activities include bearded author book displays at library branches, and a display at the Kennewick library provided by the cancer center.

Take a selfie with the mustache bookmarks and post it to social media using the hashtag #TCCCMensHealth or #MidColumbiaLibraries, and be entered to win a prize. Bookmarks are available at library branches and the cancer center.
