Winds to pick up Monday afternoon in Tri-Cities
The Mid-Columbia is under a wind advisory until 5 p.m. Monday, with the worst of the wind forecast for the Hanford area and northwest Franklin County, according to the National Weather Service.
Those areas could see sustained southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
In the Tri-Cities the forecast is for sustained speeds of about 25 mph with gusts up to 37 mph.
A tight pressure gradient behind the morning rain is producing a weather system causing windy conditions, according to the weather service.
Winds should start to lessen in the late afternoon, but gusts up to 20 mph could still blow across the Tri-Cities Monday evening.
