“Operation Cash for Candy” underway in Tri-Cities
The seventh annual Operation Cash for Candy is underway in the Tri-Cities.
The program involves partnering the area’s health professionals and Operation Thank You, to buy leftover Halloween candy from local children for $1 a pound.
The candy is then sent to soldiers as thanks for their service. Participants can choose to send troops a thank you note or drawing.
Operation Cash for Candy was founded by Richland dentist Dr. Lee Ostler. He teamed up with Operation Thank You, an organization working to support the military. Many local health professionals served in the military and are excited to be part of a project that says thank you to troops, while also doing positively affecting children’s health, organizers stated.
