Breaching Bateman Island causeway in Tri-Cities to be discussed

A Washington state habitat biologist will discuss Nov. 1 plans to breach the Bateman Island causeway with the Richland Rod and Gun Club.

The public is invited to hear Mike Ritter, of the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, talk about a proposal to improve salmon and steelhead habitat at the confluence of the Yakima and Columbia rivers in the Tri-Cities.

The public is invited to the meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Richland Public Library, 955 Northgate Drive.
