Olympic contender to speak at helmet event Oct. 29 in Kennewick

The Kadlec Neurological Resource Center is presenting “HEAD SMART: It’s a helmet thing” from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Three Rivers Convention Center, 7016 W. Grandridge Blvd., Kennewick.

The featured speaker is Kevin Pearce, a 2010 Olympic contender who suffered a traumatic brain injury while training for the Olympics in Park City, Utah.

Exhibits include the Pacific Science Center Brain Power exhibit, a walk-thru inflatable brain, “Workshops on Helmets 101 Return to Play Protocol” and Hands-On Concussion goggles and simulation, and Pokemon Go.

The event is free.
