2 Oregon men killed in I-84 collision near Boardman
Two Oregon drivers were killed after one was going the wrong way on Interstate 84 near Boardman, Ore. Monday.
Francisco Ramirez, 27, of Stanfield, Ore., and Clifford Ammons, 77, of Reedsport, Ore., were pronounced dead at the scene at about 7:30 p.m.
Ammons was driving the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of I-84 in a 2009 Honda Ridgeline pickup. He collided with a 2005 Ford Mustang, driven by Ramirez, according to the Oregon State Police.
The collision closed the interstate for more than four hours.
Ammons had a dog in the Ridgeline. It was taken to a veterinary clinic in Hermiston.
Oregon State Police troopers don’t know why the Ridgeline entered the Interstate going the wrong way, but they believe it happened at the Highway 730 interchange.
