Kennewick project affects Desert Hills school traffic

People trying to drive to Kennewick’s Desert Hills Middle School may need to find a different route.

City construction crews are expected to begin work Oct. 17 on Clodfelter Road. The road will close between Ridgeline Drive and the intersection of 10th Avenue and Steptoe Street.

The closure is part of a $11 million project connecting Highway 240 and Highway 395, according to the City of Kennewick’s website. When the project is finished, it will link the Clearwater Business Park with the southridge area.

A portion of Clodfelter Road north of the Ridgeline Drive intersection is going to remain open so people can access Desert Hills. People need to drive east on Ridgeline Drive to reach the school, according to a Kennewick School District news release.

The road is expected to reopen in November.
