Tri-Cities coronavirus support groups start for those dealing with the deadly disease

Chaplaincy Health Care is starting a new type of support group — help for Tri-Cities area people dealing with COVID-19.

It is starting one grief support group for those impacted by COVID-19 and another one for first responders and other healthcare workers challenged because of the coronavirus.

COVID-19 and the resulting restrictions have compounded feelings of grief and loss and increased feelings of isolation, separation and compassion fatigue, said Chaplaincy Health Care.

The support groups are intended to provide a place of healing and an opportunity to connect with others facing similar issues.

Both support groups are being held online, with people free to drop in.

The COVID-Impact Grief Support group will meet 9 to 10:30 a.m. every Saturday.

Anyone impacted is welcome, including those previously or presently infected with the disease, as well as family or friends.

The First Responders Grief Support group is 5 to 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

Firefighters, police, emergency medical service workers, nurses, aids, social workers and others can connect with others to help those in need.
