Step outside about lunchtime on Friday and you should see and hear an Air Force flyover to honor Tri-Cities healthcare workers.
Two KC-135 Stratotankers based at Fairchild in Spokane will be flying over parts of Eastern Washington on May 8 to honor frontline workers as they battle the new coronavirus pandemic.
The “America Strong Flyover” path starts at the air base and will pass over Moses Lake, Yakima, Tri-Cities, Coeur d’Alene and Spokane.
The schedule is:
- Moses Lake Samaritan Hospital — 12:22 p.m.
- Yakima’s Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital — 12:39 p.m.
- Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland —12:57 p.m.
- Trios Southridge Hospital, Kennewick, and Lourdes Medical Center, Pasco — 12:59 p.m.
- Spokane’s Shriners, Deacones, Sacred Heart Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital and VA Hospital — 1:30 to 1:45 p.m.
- Coeur d’Alene’s Kootenai Medical Center — 1:38 p.m
People are asked to maintain social distancing while watching for the jets and to avoid gathering in large groups at the hospitals or other areas.
“We are so thankful for the healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential personnel on frontline of the COVID-19 threat,” said Colonel Derek Salmi, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander.
“This flyover is one small thing that we can do to say thank you for all of your hard work and remind everyone that we, as a community, are all in this together.”
