More than 50 coronavirus deaths and over 1,000 confirmed cases reported in Washington state
The number of people with positive tests for coronavirus in Washington state topped 1,000 and the number of deaths reached 52, according to data released Tuesday afternoon by the Washington state Department of Health.
The latest state report did not yet include the confirmed case of COVID-19 in Franklin County that the Benton Franklin Health District announced Tuesday morning.
Including Franklin County, 21 of 39 counties in the state have confirmed cases.
The number of cases in the state climbed from 904 on Monday to 1,012 on Tuesday. The number of deaths increased from 48 on Monday to 52 on Tuesday.
King County continues to be at the center of the outbreak with 569 of the cases and 43 of the deaths. Snohomish County has 254 cases and six deaths.
The only Eastern Washington death was an elderly Quincy man, including in Grant County statistics. Grant County has seven cases, Yakima County has five cases, Spokane County has four and Kittitas has three cases.
With Franklin and Columbia counties each having one reported case, the total for Eastern Washington reached 21.
Benton County continues to have no cases confirmed by testing.
About two-thirds of reported cases statewide are in people age 50 and older.
