A new program is offering free online therapy for youth and young adults in Benton County.

The county has partnered with Handspring Health to offer free therapy and support for a wide range of needs for anyone ages 8 to 29.

No insurance or co-pay is required, according to a news release from the county.

“The services that Handspring offers align with our commitment to improving the well-being of youth and young adults in our community,” said Tula Jackson, Benton County Behavioral Health Coordinator. “This partnership supports our broader efforts to strengthen the safety net for families.”

Benton County will cover the full cost of up to 12 therapy sessions through March 31, 2027.

Patients will want to make sure they attend the appointments because the county can cover only two no-shows or late cancellations.

Therapists at Handspring have experience in teen and young adult care using cognitive behavioral therapy to treat most mental health challenges, including depression and anxiety.

Cognitive behavioral therapy teaches patients skills to help better understand their thoughts, manage their emotions, and build lasting coping strategies that support emotional and behavioral well-being, according to Handspring’s website.

Patients will start with a 30- to 60-minute consultation, available within 48 hours of signing up. Then they’ll meet the therapist for a 45-minute assessment and begin treatment within a week. Sessions offer flexible scheduling and last 45 to 60 minutes.

Services are available seven days a week, and same-day or next-day appointments are available when appropriate, according to the news release.

Patients under 18 are not required to get parental permission, but if parents are involved the therapy sessions are confidential.

In a perfect world, parents and their children would be able to talk openly about mental health concerns and solutions,” their website says. “As this is not the case for many young people today, it’s up to you whether you want to include your parents in your Handspring therapy journey in any way.”
