Staples closing its only Tri-City store
Staples Inc. will close its lone Tri-City store on June 25.
Kaitlyn Reardon, spokeswoman for the Framingham, Mass.-based office supply giant, confirmed Thursday it will shutter the store at 1480 Tapteal Drive in Richland.
This month, Staples said it would close at least 50 stores in 2016 and cut $300 million in expenditures after an agreement to merge with Office Depot was terminated after the Federal Trade Commission moved to block the deal in federal court.
Officials did not say how many employees would be affected.
