Spokane jeweler expanding to Kennewick
A Spokane-based jeweler will open its first showroom and shop in the Tri-Cities this summer.
Jewelry Design Center will move into a commercial development at 1350 N. Louisiana St. in Kennewick, near Costco and Columbia Center, a news release said.
The business was founded by Doug Toone in 1977 and is owned by his son, Brian Toone.
Brian Toone said the business has looked at opening a Tri-City store for about a decade, noting that they have a large number of customers here who already travel to the Spokane store.
The Kennewick location will be 6,000 square feet with retail and display space but also a publicly viewable manufacturing shop.
The business expects to hire 10 full-time employees, from a manager to sales staff and bench jewelers. Those interested in applying should go to www.jewelrydesigncenter.com.
