PNNL’s Brouns named fellow of Waste Management Symposia
Tom Brouns, a chemical engineer with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, has been named a fellow of Waste Management Symposia, a non-profit organization focused on radioactive material management and disposition.
For nearly 30 years, Brouns has developed and managed large research and development projects in remediation of chemical and nuclear waste, including processing, disposal and subsurface cleanup/. His work has included demonstration projects at Hanford.
He also led a national science and technology program supporting the processing and disposition of the Department of Energy’s radioactive tank wastes. Tom, who joined PNNL in 1987, serves as co-chairman of the high level waste and spent nuclear fuels track for the symposia.
