Walla Walla invites fine food lovers for February festivals
Walla Walla looks like the place to be in February if fancy yourself a foodie.
The fourth annual February is for Foodies celebration will take over the community, its restaurants and wineries for a full month, bringing cooking demonstrations, special menus, chocolate and wine pairings and lodging deals for anyone not wanting to commute back to the Tri-Cities.
The first of four cooking demonstrations being offered on Saturdays during the month — a culinary overview of Mexican dishes at Va Piano Vineyards offered by chef Andrae Bopp of Andrae’s Kitchen and AK’s at the Co-op — has already sold out. The other demonstrations, including an introduction to molecular gastronomy, a menu and skill session and small-batch chocolate making are still up for grabs.
Costs range from about $25 to $50 per person and reservations can be made by calling 509-525-8799.
Saffron Mediterranean Kitchen, the Marcus Whitman Hotel’s Vineyard Lounge, Adamant Cellars, Maple Counter Cafe and numerous wineries throughout the Walla Walla Valley will offer everything from cheese samplers and wine pairings to three-course prix-fixe menus throughout the month.
