Korean eatery closes + Nightclub shuts after 25 years. Something new is coming
Two businesses have closed in Kennewick.
Korean eatery 1derful K-BBQ has closed after three years. The eatery specialized in Korean barbecue wings and was the anchor for the 1derful food park next to Summer’s Hub in the Colonnade Shopping Center.
The restaurant was started by Joo Seok Baek of Richland, who also owned the building at 6494 W. Skagit Ave. He kicked off the project in 2022, opening the first of seven walk-up windows in early 2023. The other spaces have slowly filled in with other eateries such as Tropical Express and Vava’s Waffles.
The closure was announced this week on social media.
“Our family is incredibly grateful to every single guest who supported us,” it read. “We will miss feeding you.”
No word yet on what might replace it.
Downtown nightclub
The Branding Iron nightclub, 213 W. Kennewick Ave., will soon reopen under new ownership.
It’s unclear when the bar closed, but its liquor license expired in March and was not renewed, according to the Washington state Department of Revenue.
The Branding Iron opened in 2001, according to Tri-City Herald archives. It was The Cowboy Club before that.
Parkade Bar and Grill owner Katie Clark told the Herald that the club is reopening as Last Call. It is a family venture with her father, brother and cousin.
“We’re just trying to get the downtown Kennewick community back up again and keep people coming down there to visit the local businesses,” she said.
Clark said the bar had been for sale and after an offer fell through, they decided to take the leap. It’s just a few doors down from the Parkade, another longtime tavern in downtown. New liquor licenses were issued last week.
Last Call will open in early August. They hope to have a soft opening on Aug. 6 with a grand opening with live music on Aug. 8.
They plan to keep the modern country atmosphere and continue hosting live music.
It will be family friendly until 9 p.m. and then shift into nightclub mode. The kitchen will serve pizza and other bar fare.
